Review of Mommy, Why? (Paperback)

Ms. O,Neill's book is one of my daughter's favorites!!! It deals with the hard issues of race in a very sensitive manner. After reading the book a child will understand that everyone is different, not necessarily "better" but different and that different is GOOD. This book should be on all the bookshelves in every school(children need to learn to be tolerant of one another, not hateful or envious or inferior)!!! This book is a good find.

About the Author
Lin Fong-O'Neill left her native Hong Kong for America at seventeen. She had a successful management career in New York's JPMorgan Chase & Co., where she was selected as a member of the Diversity Council within a major business sector. She retired in 2001 to pursue creative writing. Her work has appeared extensively in New York's Great South Bay Monthly magazine, and New Jersey's Asbury Park Press. This is her first children's book. She hopes to pass along her love of different cultures, and to promote unity through diversity.

Lin lives with her husband, Ben, and their two cats, Maxi and Tommy, in Colts Neck, New Jersey.

My family and I all enjoyed Norbert. We laughed out loud alot. You already know Norbert whether you have been in his shoes(and are wondering what is going on around you) or you come across some of the same characters that he does ( and are still wondering what is going on around you). Great book that's easy reading when you want a quick scenario or want to lose yourself in Norbert's world for a while.

Review of Louisiana Red: "Club Sense" (Paperback)

This book is somewhat a continuation of "Draumatized". Hannah's sole purpose was to move to Houston to obtain an education. In Miss Scott's first book, Hannah became a stripper to make fast cash. Along with the lifestyle, she gets caught up with a violatle boyfriend. An accident can re-route her life if she doesn't find out the truth.

It's a very interesting book. Miss Scott is very descriptive of an average night for a stripper. You see Hannah at work and then you see a softer side of her at home. You wonder how she manages both worlds. Her motives are almost the same as Diamond in "Player's Club".

About the Author
Ronder Patrice Scott grew up in Northern Louisiana, in a small town called Minden. Her family raised her on the Penal Farm Road until her mother died as a result of poverty and alcoholism. By the time she was seven she moved in with her grandmother where she grew very fond of literature. She read library books and romance novels on every occasion she could find. She is the youngest child in a huge family of nine. She moved from Minden in 1998 to attend Texas Southern University, and major in Telecommunications. She graduated at the age of 25 from the University in the year 2005. Her novel, Draumatized, was published March of 2004. She has won the editors choice award for the poem, "Will", she wrote when she was seventeen. The poem was published in A Symphony of Verse (1998). She enjoys writing screenplays and movie shorts. She produced her first short film, Hater Proof in 2005. She continues to write on a daily basis and will publish more books in the near future.

About the Author
Quintin Peterson is the author of several plays and screenplays. He resides in Washington, DC and is a native Washingtonian. As a junior high school student, he attended the Corcoran School of Art on a scholarship. While still in high school, he was honored with the University of Wisconsin's Science Fiction Writing Award and the National Council of Teachers of English Writing Award. Upon receiving the Wisconsin Junior Academy's Writing Achievement Award, his name was included in Who's Who Among American High School Students of 1975.

As an undergraduate communications major at the University of Wisconsin, he wrote and performed in two plays for stage and videotape and received a Mary Roberts Rinehart Foundation grant for his play project, Change. A National Endowment for the Arts creative writing fellowship and a playwriting grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities followed. Subsequently, two of his radio plays were aired on WPFW-FM Pacifica Radio as productions of the Minority Arts Ensemble's Radio Drama Workshop '79.

Mr. Peterson is a 20-year-veteran police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department and is currently assigned to its Office of Public Information as a media liaison officer. He is also a liaison between the department and members of the motion picture and television industries, acting as a script consultant and technical advisor.

His debut novel, SIN, was published in October of 2000. THE WAGES OF SIN is his second novel.

This book was off the hook!! I can relate to the characters because like the characters in the book and the author, I'm from the 9th ward of New Orleans,LA. I hung around these characters and in some ways I felt like one of the characters. The book was well written for a first time author. I can't wait until the follow up come to see what Ben is up to? Will he find himselfin jail? Or will he keep his "old" ways? I can't wait to see what Ben Holland will be up to next!!!

Tony Dewayne Johnson was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in March of 1973. He is married and has three kids. Review of My Mother My Friend Forever (Paperback)

Betty Gonzales' book starts out with a total misrepresentation of the facts.Here is what she says happened "I received a call from my mother who lived out of state, to "come and get me now".Hearing the urgency in her voice I drove to California the very next day.She was waiting on the porch, wearing a flowered duster,looking a little disheveled holding her purse in one hand and a plastic bag of `clothes'with the other."

If Betty is willing to lie about this situation, how many more recounts of what happened could be fictitious?I am not sure.But as someone who actually knows the facts, my grandma was well cared for and loved by many in California, and to suggest otherwise is a complete falsehood.The situation Betty recounts is not at all how it happened.In fact, anyone who knows what happened would be appalled at this mischaracterization.I have no desire to recount the true story, it's too long and complicated, but suffice to say, I feel so strongly about this, I am not worried about liable, because what I am saying is the actual truth.My grandma was well cared for in countless ways.I hope Betty Gonzales, puts out a new edition of this book, which would possibly include what really happened, and how she really treated so many of grandma's loved ones.

Review of Reflections in My Mind's Eye (Paperback)

As a person who hardly reads,I couldn't believe it the moment I realised I had started reading this book for the second time.The few stories in this book sum up to provide a summary of all that human life is practically about.Thus,the confirmation of the author's ingenuity and decision to write about everything is brought up.It's difficult to tell which of the stories is not a true one,though the author said some are not,because each story conveys a practical knowledge and account of crucial experiences in life.Since I read this book,I've been looking forward desperately to owning the author's next work to be published.

Romee Trofort was born in Haiti 28 years ago. She came to America at the age of three with her parents and her older sister. Ms. Trofort was raised and Americanized n New York. She has three beautiful children, Lalah, Myles and Michelin. She is enlisted in active duty with the U.S. Army and is presently stationed in Fort Stewart Georgia.She has been writing for years and has kept a personal diary for over ten years. She is currently working on two novellas and three novels.Besides Reflections, the author has also published a small book of poetry titled 'Come Here, Let me Show You' and has had individual short stories and poetry published in magazines. Review of When God Wants to Punish You He Answers Your Prayers (Paperback)

I really enjoyed this book, which is trite, I know, but it's true.The first three chapters move slowly, but once the central character enters the "clinic" the action picks up, so does the comedy.I found myself laughing several times, which is rather unusual with written material, and the reunion scene betweeen the father and his badly "damaged" son actually made me cry.

This book is worth reading and recommending.

Then he got osteomyelitis and spent four years in a life and death struggle--. that he won!! After that he used what he had learned to become a counselor.-He taught his clients how to manage pain with hypnosis. If you are interested in becoming a chef, personal nutritionist, caterer, or any of the many other specific professional positions which require formal training in the culinary arts, this is a must read. The stories in the book have an earthy "you are there" appeal that will either prepare you for the ordeal or dissuade you from trying.

Review of The Collapse (Paperback)

If you can overcome the thousands of spelling and grammatical errors, 3 to 4 per page, this is a great story filled with action and believable characters. It is a rough look at what could very easily happen in this unprepared soft country. If you are a gun enthusiast you will enjoy this book. I would have rated the book at 5 stars if it were not for all the errors. Whoever proofread this story needs to be fired.
