Review of Calder Born, Calder Bred (Calder Saga's) (Mass Market Paperback)

Out of all the calder series, I love this one the best.Jessy is the woman all of us would love to be....feminine, tough, ladylike, loyal, beautiful in the way the land needed, not just "prissy". Ty needs someone to stand with him, not to be a "trophy". The loss of Maggie is so difficult; Chase just isn't the same without her; I love seeing Cat grow up and the changes in all the characters.I have even learned to like Culley. The love he has for Maggie and Cat is wonderful and touching.I have been through 2 copies already and will choose this one when i want a real look at the calder's.What a wonderful way to escape.....

Review of Dark Music (Paperback)

Janis Susan May's murder mystery Dark Music may start a tad slow, but it quickly builds up the pace and the intensity. Elizabeth McAllister, an author of romance novels, is contracted to make a public appearance for fans. The convention is in Canada and rather than endure a flight with the other authors from the same publishing company, she insists on driving alone to the convention. She'd rather not attend the whole thing in the first place but duty says she must do her part along with her fellow authors, the group that has been dubbed the Fab Four.

Before the official start of the convention Canada experiences a late season blizzard. Due to the raging weather no on can get to and from the hotel. When a person from her past is also stuck in the hotel, Elizabeth is forced to reveal a secret she has kept hidden from the others. As she struggles to deal with her own past, a fellow best selling author is murdered in the hotel.Elizabeth is trying to figure out why the author was killed when another one is found murdered. Now only able to trust herself, Elizabeth is in fear for her own safety. The Fab Four are quickly getting killed, picked off one at a time. Trapped by the blizzard with the killer, Elizabeth knows she is being targeted, likely the next victim. There are several suspects who seem to fit each murder, so the identity of the true killer is cleverly hidden until the very end.
Dark Music is a very suspenseful murder mystery which, when it picked up the flow, went full steam ahead. And the interaction between Elizabeth and the man from her past adds romance as a second source of tension to the plot. . The cold of the weather can not dampen the rising heat between them. Dark Music is a good choice for summer reading for fans of both light romance and suspenseful mysteries.

Review of I See You (Paperback)

I SEE YOU is the third of Lisle's romantic suspense books. It returns to the setting of the first one, MIDNIGHT RAIN, and uses Brig as a main character rather than a secondary one.(On a side note, it's nice to hear even the tiny glimpses that are included about Alan and Phoebe, though for a moment I expected them to actually make an appearance.)

The mystery and suspense element of the book is very strong, and one of the things Lisle's readers can rely on.She gives enough hints that a very, VERY astute reader could, theoretically, figure out the plot twists before the main characters do.Most readers, however (including yours truly) will figure out only enough hints to point them in the wrong direction.Instead of being annoying, however, this only serves to increase the tension.

The romantic scenes in I SEE YOU are also well written. They flow realistically from the characters' personalities and situations rather than being there just to have sex scenes. In fact, all of the characters are fully developed, and their actions reflect their personalities in the non-romance scenes, also.

I SEE YOU is less gory than its predecessors. The paranormal element is present, though I won't give away any details about it.In all, this is a very good addition to a set of highly recommended books.

Review of Every Demon Has His Day (Paperback)

Constance Plyd can't believe her husband, Jimmy, is dead. All she'd wanted him to do was sign the divorce papers but no, he put Tide in her dishwasher and then manages to get killed by a demon!Sheriff Nathan Garrett doesn't want to believe that Constance is responsible but she's the only witness to the murder. Is he letting his guilt over the past interfere with the investigation?Or is Constance's story true that a demon killed Jimmy and now the Devil intends to impregnate a ditzy virgin to bring about the birth of the Antichrist?Constance and Nathan will have their hands full as the situation is only going to get wackier....

Hilarious!Cara Lockwood had me laughing throughout EVERY DEMON HAS HIS DAY.From Jimmy's history of mishaps to the whole concept of a talking dog, the story is chock full of humor.Cara Lockwood keeps the tone upbeat, even as the world is crashing around Constance.

Constance is a great heroine. Her disbelief at the unbelievable events makes her all the more credible.I particularly love the distinguishing moniker of "Dead Jimmy" she uses for her now-deceased husband as it adds yet another bit of quirkiness to the tale. The romance between Constance and Nathan is sweet and builds over the course of the tale as both must learn to trust the other.EVERY DEMON HAS HIS DAY is a bit outrageous at times, but that is part of the fun.Easily recommended!
