Hughes is able to tell his stories with both humor and humanity.Everyone has tales of growing up, but this book is written at a level of skill very few story tellers could come close too even if their adventures were as notable. Through most of the book you will find yourself laughing out loud, but at least one chapter choked me up to the point I pronounced it as "the saddest thing I've ever read".
