Review of Eliminating the Middleman (Paperback)

Forman has done what few other authors have accomplished: kept me up all night reading his book.I may have lost some sleep, but once I picked up Eliminating The Middleman, I had to sit riveted to my favorite chair until I was finished.

As in the first book of this series, Dead Men Don't Jog, the engaging Maria Hart is recruited by her "sometimes" employer, Northeastern Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company, to investigate another suspicious insurance claim. With an apparent serial killer on the loose, Maria enthusiastically takes the case, while at the same time helping the police to track down a murderer. The victims are all television infomercial stars, and Maria must travel from Chicago to New York to Milwaukee, viewing crime scenes and interviewing multiple suspects. With the intuitive Maria Hart relentlessly pursuing them, the bad guys always seem to get a little nervous. As a result, her own life is placed in imminent danger on more than one occasion, only this time we see the housewife-turned-sleuth emerge as something of an action/adventure hero. With the agility of a teenage gymnast, Maria maintains her cool, calm demeanor as she outmaneuvers a knife-wielding schizophrenic in Chicago, only to find herself facing the business end of a gun a week later in Syracuse. How does she get out of that one?Is this the end of the road for the resourceful and loveable Maria Hart?

Read the book and find out.And if you're like me, by the time you finish this book, you'll develop an insatiable craving for a lettuce and tomato sandwich.

Review of Death in December (Paperback)

Once I started, I couldn't put it down! I enjoyed the characters and the many references to our Catholic faith. I was surprized by the "villian", which doesn't happen very often.

Product Description

Review of Death of a Turkey (Peggy Jean Turner Mysteries) (Paperback)

I really like this series! While there are some little issues, overall it is a really great cozy series. The characters are likeable and that Ian is simply yummy! I agree with the first reviewer that the relationship has been a little rushed - I would have liked it to develop a new level at each book instead of throwing several into this one.I also agree on the snow issue...since I think New England in general is a wimp about snow and closes at the drop of the hat rather than waiting it out (that may be sour potatoes as I grew in a far northern state that closes for absolutely NOTHING while my cousins in New England were always getting out of school for an inch of snow).

But the characters and the town are simply wonderful.I actually managed to guess at the ending although I had it wrong why the murderer murdered Prunella so that was an interesting twist.Definitely a series to devour and I can't wait for more in this series!

Product Description
It's Thanksgiving--and it's not just the turkey who's in danger.

As tourists arrive at Cobb's Landing to enjoy an authentic Colonial-style Thanksgiving, mayor Peggy Turner would be thankful for nothing more than a clue as to who killed her neighbor--a clue that didn't point to her.

Review of Rough Draft (Mass Market Paperback)

I eagerly await each new book from James Hall, having read him from the beginning.Rough Draft is another outstanding South Florida suspense story. Each Hall book is completely different, with new characters, etc. But they retain the riveting writing style, perverse humor, and intriguingplot that grab you and won't let go.Hal and Misty in Rough Draft arecharacters that border on preposterous yet are still very believable intoday'sviolent world.

Hall doesn't seem to get the same recognitionas Carl Hiiason, Elmore Leonard or some other current greats but he'snumber one on my list of favorites.
